exhibit preparation; 2 portraits

My muse is consistently exquisite and strange and lovely in equal measure.

exhibit preparation

Some more of what I am working on currently. I like to start fast, gain momentum and thoroughly exhaust myself painting, so I work out my sketches beforehand in a big hardbacked book, before transferring them to canvas. Ideally, I get 4-5 sketched out on canvas before I begin painting so I can work through without having to draw again.

from a triptych, the central painting

Unfinished (still have fur to define, and highlights on the drape of the cloth)

No base, no sketch, no prep work. This is painted directly on canvas from the reference shots I took, it is for part of a triptych.

evolution of an oil painting

Starting on the painting itself now. I think I went too dark on the base but it is easily remedied.

sculpture final day

Think that I shall be off to Dublin to get my own tools for more of this, found it so simple and primal to work with blunt force and literally carve something out of an organic thing.
